La Sección para las Relaciones Académicas con Cuba de LASA, posee un total de más de 225 miembros inscritos hasta la realización del congreso en Río de Janeiro. De ellos 106 miembros ejercieron el voto. En Río de Janeiro un total de 86 miembros votaron, mientras 21 lo hicieron por correo electrónico.
El proceso electoral comenzó el 25 de mayo con el lanzamiento de la convocatoria para que los miembros de la sección enviaran su propuesta de candidatos. Esta convocatoria cerró el 5 de junio. A partir de las propuestas recibidas se elaboró la boleta que se llevó a la reunión de la sección en Brasil. Todos los propuestos fueron consultados y escuchada su aceptación.
Una vez en Río se procedió a ejercer el voto.
Tras la culminación del Congreso y la conformación de la lista de miembros de la sección, se pasó a la segunda fase: el voto por medio del buzón de correo electrónico habilitado a los efectos. Se enviaron tres mensajes por medio del boletín del sitio recabando de la participación de quienes no lo habían hecho físicamente en papel, para hacerlo por esta vía. Esta segunda fase cerró el 15 de julio.

The Section for Scholarly Relations with Cuba of LASA has a total of more than 225 members registered before the completion of the conference in Rio de Janeiro. Of those, 106 members participated in the election process. In Rio de Janeiro a total of 86 voted in the election on site, subsequently, 21 members voted by email.
The election process began on May 25 with the launch of the call for section’s members to submit their nominations. This call closed on June 5. A ballot was developed on the basis of the nominations received and distributed at section meeting in Brazil. All candidates nominated were consulted as to their agreement to stand for election. Once in Rio, the vote was conducted.
Following the completion of the Congress and the confirmation of the list of section members, we initiated the second phase: the email vote for members not attending the congress. Three messages were sent through the section website’s bulletin board, seeking the participation of those who had not did attend the Congress in Rio. This second phase ended July 15.

De ellas: 22 miembros no cubanos; 60 cubanos presentes en la sala.

Total ballots quantified:
In Rio de Janeiro, 86 members of the section voted. Four ballots were invalidated.  One for lack of name, and three because the section member voted for all candidates.
Total valid ballots counted: 82
Of these, 22 from non Cuban members, 60 from Cubans present in Rio section meeting.

Twenty-one members voted electronically. There were 20 valid ballots. (One person had already voted in Rio). Of the valid ballots, 18 were from non Cuban sections members, and 2 from members resident in Cuba.
